During the 1970s, NASA and ESA began planning for a space telescope that could transcend the blurring effects of the atmosphere and take clearer images of the Universe than ever before. In 1990 the idea finally became a reality and, despite a flaw in the main mirror which was quite swiftly corrected, Hubble has since far exceeded expectations. It has delved deeper into the early years of the Universe than was ever thought possible, played a critical part in the discovery that the expansion of the Universe is accelerating and probed the atmospheres of planets around distant stars. Watch tons of fireworks that locals set off every New Year´s Eve it is kind of madness! Every New Year's Day Icelanders buy their fireworks as they are allowed to. They can buy as much as they want to. Everyone can go and ignite their fireworks wherever they like, there are no limits for this as long as they do this carefully and mind about their safety. In Iceland, a team of highly trained unpaid volunteers serve as the island’s rescue teams. Individually, they are ordinary people with day jobs, everyone can support them by purchasing fireworks that they are selling before every New Year's Day. It is estimated that the locals buy fireworks for a ca. 500.000.000 ISK Krónur about 4.103.069,10 US dollars for the night.
